MAC Russian Red Lipstick

MAC are well known for their lipsticks (understatement of the century). The three most popular red lipsticks from MAC are Lady Danger, Ruby Woo and Russian Red. While I was at their airport on my way to Stockholm last month I decided to pick up Russian Red. It is a matte finish and is a little darker than the other reds.

Russian Red Matte Lipstick
Russian Red is a classic red, perfect for pale skinned girls. It reminds me of a Hollywood glamour red that goes with everything. An all round great lipstick which will remain in my collection for years to come. It glides easily over the lips for a flawless matte finish. Although a matte finish, I do not find it dries out the lips which is perfect.

I also have the Brave Red lipstick in my collection which is actually very similar to this but in a cremation formula.

See the full range of MAC lipsticks here.

Top 3 Autumn Lip Products

Vampire Kiss is a deep pinky, red shade which is perfect for Autumn and Winter makeup. I don't normally use lip gloss because I find they can feel very sticky BUT these lip glosses are very pigmented, they smell a-maz-ing and they are super long lasting.

I have owned this product for quite a while now and I love it! This is in the cremesheen finish which means it is a creamy lipstick with a soft shine and full coverage. 'Brave Red', as hinted by the name, is a bright red lip colour. What I love about this lipstick is you can either build it up for a much bolder red lip or dab it on for a more muted, berry/pink lip.

Having avoided matte lip colours (in fear of dry looking lips) I finally took the plunge and tried out shade 107 from Rimmel's Kate Moss line. I had heard wonderful things about this product before buying it, so could not wait to try it out for myself. This lipstick is deep, berry toned and I love it! Although it is a matte finish, it is not drying on the lips and it lasts all day.

The Spring Edit

Spring has finally sprung so I thought I'd share some of my favourite makeup products for this season.

Base:

I recently picked up the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation after Tanya Burr recommended it. I got the shade Classic Ivory and it's a really good match. It applies perfectly to the skin and I like to use my Real Technique buffing brush to give a flawless finish. I think this foundation is a bargain at £6.99 and you can find it HERE.

I also love Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum which I have talked about quite a lot in previous posts. It gives a beautiful finish which is not too matte but not to glowy; perfect for Spring months.

Rimmel's Wake Me Up concealer has been a favourite of mine since I first purchased it in the summer. It works really well as an under-eye concealer; masking dark circles and brightening  the area without being at all cakey. This concealer can be found HERE for £5.49.

Eyes:

I like to use neutral colours on the eyes especially in Spring and Summer because I feel it keeps the makeup looking light and fresh. I love the MUA Undress Me Too palette which has a range of neutral eyeshadows ranging from cool greys to stunning gold metallics. This 12 shadow palette can be found HERE for just £4!

Lips:

I have chosen three lipsticks which are all in the same pink-coral group. My favourite of the three is MAC Crosswires cremesheen lipstick. It is super easy to apply and I love the formulation. It lasts well on the lips so you don't need to re-apply it often (probably only after eating). MAC lipsticks at priced at £15 and can be found HERE.

Next is another favourite of mine which has made a few appearances on my blog, Revlon Lipbutter in Juicy Papaya (another recommendation from Tanya Burr). This is a great product for school makeup because it's quite sheer but still gives a little pop colour. This product can be found for £7.99 HERE.

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in Shade 16 is a lovely Spring colour.  This is more of a pink colour and has good pigmentation with a beautiful smooth texture. This lipstick retails for £5.49 HERE.

Nails:

Spring shouts pastels! So I picked out Barry M Gelly Nail Polish in Papaya and Prickly Pear. Papaya is a gorgeous pink-coral and prickly pear is a lovely lilac colour. I love the formula and glossy finish of these polishes. Buy them HERE for £3.99.

I also love this baby blue polish in the shade Mind the Gap, Victoria by Rimmel. I really like the brushes on the Rimmel nail polishes because they are wide so you only need one swipe and you're done. Also, the pigmentation is awesome which means one coat is often enough. However, I find these nail polishes chip really easily which is a shame because otherwise they are perfect. Find them for £3.69 HERE.
