Battle of the Benefit Mascaras

In my May favourites post, I mentioned one of my favourites was Benefit They're Real. Since that has run out, I decided to try out the new Roller Lash mascara; and I LOVE it. Here's what I think.

This mascara is great at separating the lashes and adding both length and volume. It stays in place all day without smudging and to top it all off it is easy to remove with regular makeup remover. The wand on this mascara is a plastic one, which I initially didn't like but I have grown to enjoy it.

Before buying this mascara, I had a look online and saw many people comparing before and after use and I was very impressed. Being a fan of the They're Real mascara, I had high hopes for this product, and it did not disappoint. The wand on this is a rubber/silicon one which grips the lashes really easily. This mascara adds a whole load of length and curl to the lashes without being clumpy. I just love it.

I hope this helps. Let me know which one is your favourite, I love them both!

Battle of the Brows

Over the past few months I have been experimenting with different brow products so today  I'm going to tell you what I think.

The first product I tried was an eyebrow pencil. I like the MUA pencil because it comes with a brush at one end so that you can blend the product through evenly, giving a more natural look.  I like to apply it using small strokes and then brushing through. I have the shade brunette but they also do one for blondes. I use the MUA clear mascara on top to set them in place.

This is a two-in-one product with a felt tip at one end and a waxy pencil at the other. To start with I preferred to just use the wax end but now I enjoy the felt tip end because I feel it gives a natural looking finish and lasts all day. I use the felt tip end to draw little lines which look like hairs to give a fuller looking brow. I use the shade Brownie Points which is for brunettes but they also have a shade for blondes. I also use a clear mascara on top to set my brows in place.

This is a relatively new product which acts as a colour and setting agent in one. There is a range of shades; clear, blonde, mid brown and dark brown. I have 'dark brown' which is a perfect match for my brows. I really love this product because it is quick and easy (being a two-in-one product). However, I find that too much product comes off on the brush but this is easily sorted by wiping the excess before use.

These are just some of the brow products available in the drugstore. Let me know in the comments what your favourite brow product is.

Battle of the Micellar Water

When my beloved Bioderma began to run low I thought I would try out some Micellar waters from the drugstore. I picked up one from L'Oreal and one from Garnier.

Bioderma
Bioderma is one of the most raved about items in the beauty world and has been hailed the makeup remover of all makeup removers. It has the consistency of water and is a make up removing and cleansing solution. It's not greasy or oily, and the solution dissolves all traces of makeup. Bioderma is great because it is not harsh on the eyes and it only takes a few wipes to remove makeup. One problem is that it isn't widely available in the UK but can only be found in a few pharmacies. You can buy it online from various places including ebay for about £10-15.

L'Oreal Paris: 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution
This claims to dissolve make-up, unclog pores and remove impurities and tone and smooths skin. It does all these things. However, I find it leaves a slight residue on the skin and gives a slight stinging sensation on the eyes which is not ideal. This is widely available in the UK in places such as Boots and Superdrug for just £4.99.

Garnier: Micellar Cleansing Water
Like Bioderma, the Garnier version is alcohol and fragrance free. I prefer this Garnier version to the L'Oreal one because it does not leave a residue on the skin and it removes makeup slightly better. For these reasons I think this Micellar water compares better to Bioderma. It is easy to get a hold of and is priced at just £4.99 in Boots and Superdrug.

I hope this helped you to find some alternatives to Bioderma. Have you found any other good Micellar waters?
